Artwork Specs
Card is 5×7 and can be horizontal or vertical. There is a 1/2-inch margin around the outside of the card (no bleeds), so the finished artwork should be proportional to 4 inches by 6 inches, or 2×3. (e.g., if the artwork is a drawing or painting, it can be 6×9, 8×12, 16×24, etc., horizontal or vertical — as long as it’s a 2 to 3 ratio).
Any scanned color artwork should be professionally scanned at actual size or at least 300dpi at finished 4×6 size, color corrected, and saved as a CMYK TIFF file. Any scanned black-and-white (e.g., an ink drawing) artwork should be scanned at 1200 dpi and saved as a bitmap TIFF file. Any artwork produced as original raster-based (Photoshop) digital files should be at least 300 dpi at actual (4×6) size and saved as a CMYK TIFF file. Any artwork produced as original vector- based (Illustrator) digital files should be saved as an EPS file. Any fonts used in the artwork should be converted to outlines.
The cards will be printed in 4-color process using standard soy-based offset lithography inks, so the artwork should avoid metallic inks or any textural effects that will not reproduce well photographically.
Digital submissions are preferred. You may also submit by mail on a CD or other digital storage.
The Behind the Scenes Foundation will provide a standard inside greeting and art for the back cover explaining the Behind the Scenes Program and crediting the design to the artist.
