Naloxone (Narcan) Training

Do you know how to help someone you suspect has overdosed on opioids?

Naloxone training will teach you:

  • How to recognize the signs and symptoms of an opioid overdose
  • The appropriate care to provide based on the person’s breathing and level of responsiveness
  • How to give a naloxone nasal atomizer to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

Naloxone, sold under the brand name Narcan among others, is a medication used to reverse or reduce the effects of opioids. It is commonly used to counter decreased breathing in opioid overdose. The medicine can be administered by spraying it into a person’s nose. Naloxone is a temporary treatment and its effects do not last long. Therefore, it is critical to obtain medical intervention as soon as possible after administering/receiving naloxone.
